LL.D. (Montreal), LL.M. (Ottawa), LL.B. (Queen’s), Senior Fellow in Natural Resources with the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law at McGill University. Dr. Koutouki’s research examines the intersection between international trade, intellectual property and Indigenous rights. She has extensive experience working on issues concerning social, economic and cultural development of Indigenous and local communities, as well as the preservation of natural spaces and traditional knowledge. She has first-hand experience with Indigenous and local communities around the world, where she has spent much time as a guest and researcher. She has worked extensively to help preserve traditional Indigenous and local community food and medicinal systems. She is a full professor at the University of Montreal faculty of law and is past president of the International Law Association (Canada) and the Canadian Association of Law Teachers as well as vice president of the Societé Québécoise de Droit International.
